The presentation made in class by my classmate, made me understands the whole topic without reading it wholly. I really don’t understand the word vagueness at first. But now I understand that vagueness in language is a language that we doubt or not sure the exact use of the word in the text. Before this I am confused with the difference of the word vagueness, ambiguity, and over generality. Of course I have search for the meaning in thesaurus. The result came out that they have the same meaning. But now I understand that the used of the word is different. Ambiguity refers to a doubtful sense of a word and phrase which means that one word but have many meaning.  In this topic I also learn that there are many types of definitions. First we have stipulative definitions where the old word is used in entirely new way. Then we have persuasive definitions which I understand as the definition is used to persuade others to believe in something that we believe. Lexical definition is where we define the word exactly according to the dictionary. Précising definition is when we define the word accurately without missing a letter in order to make the readers understand what we defining. An ostensive definition is when we demonstrate the word that we define. Then we have other definition such as enumerative (specific example), definition by subclass (listing subclass of the general class), etymological definition (part of speech of the word), synonymous definition (the synonym of the word), and last but not least definitions by Genus and Difference (identifying a general word and get the difference that distinguish the word from all other thing in the class). Now that I understand the important of language in critical thinking, I will be able to reach the true meaning when I heard someone thought.

In battling the bullies, I can see that the writer of the article is trying to attract readers to have awareness on how serious this matter has gone. The article had influence me to condemn the bully and take them as if they are very dangerous. The article at first tells about Mary Watson son who had been bully by the seniors at his school. At first Mary did not realize but when her son started to act weirdly and does not want to go to school, she starts to suspect things. When she follows her son to school then she realizes that her son was bully by his seniors. I agree on Dr. Darryl statement that kids that have been bully is shy and scared to tell the teachers and their parents that they had been bullied at school. I experience this myself when I heard my junior at school (who is close to me) said that if he tell the teachers that he had been bullied by the seniors, it will end up by him being beaten by the bully. This article really makes me wonder how this matter can be solved.
